Admissions Requirements

The majority of our students receive entrance to the Choir School in Grade 3. However, students may be accepted into higher grades depending on their musical aptitude, skills and availability of space.

Applicants must be eligible for admission to schools of the Toronto Catholic District School Board. For further information on this eligibility, please click here.

Elementary School Admission Requirements

St. Michael's Choir School admission procedure is as follows for potential students entering from Grade 3 to Grade 8:

• The student must be baptized or one parent must be Catholic having a baptismal certificate
• The student must undergo a vocal test and possibly an instrumental test at St. Michael's Choir School
• The student must also take an academic test the same day as the vocal test

Please note that starting in Grade 5, the program offered is in Extended French.

Secondary School Admission Requirements

Please note that all students in high school are enrolled in the Extended French Program.

St. Michael's Choir School admission requirements are as follows for potential students entering from Grade 9 to Grade 12:

• The student must undergo a vocal test and possibly an instrumental test at St. Michael's Choir School
• The student must also take an academic test the same day as the vocal test
• Students must have a strong French background
• Music reading ability is strongly preferred
